Covid-19 second wave is severe in India but with almost 99% recovery rate & with mere 1.12% fatality rate: This means almost 99 percent of Covid-19 patients are recovering and surviving the menacing illness caused by several variants of SARS-CoV-2 — the novel coronavirus behind this pandemic. Times are tough but this still is the best news in an utterly bad Covid-19 situation here in India.
The novel coronavirus is still raging across India but three of the biggest Covid-19 hotspots are showing signs of plateauing – Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Delhi. At the national level, India continues to see new peaks every day. One day figure of over 350 thousand fresh Covid-19 cases pushed the coronavirus caseload to over 17.3 million of these Covid-19 cases, 195 thousand people have lost their lives due to complications arising out of the illness. This means, India has a Covid-19 case fatality rate (CFR) of 1.12 per cent. The rest are recoveries or survivors. At present, India has a 98.88 per cent recovery rate for Covid-19. Also, most of the patients (the figure varies from 85 per cent to over 90 per cent in different states) don’t require hospitalisation. They recover from Covid-19 in home isolation.
